Who Is Atreyu?

Alex Varkatzas - January 17, 1982
(lead vocals)
He is half Greek and his first name is actually "Ektor" which is a family name. He has a large number of tattoos, many of which are based on Japanese imagery. He currently lives in Orange County, only a few blocks away from the houses of Offspring vocalist/guitarist Dexter Holland and Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows. Also, he is a health and fitness fanatic and he does not drink alcohol, although he used to heavily. Many of the Atreyu's lyrics are inspired by his past alcoholism.

Brandon Saller - June 24, 1983
(drums, percussion, lead vocals, piano, additional guitar)
He played saxophone in elementary school, whilst borrowing drumsticks from other people, although at the time he didn't actually play drums. He started playing drums when he moved to southern California. Chad Smith from Red Hot Chilli Peppers is one of his biggest influences. In junior high, Dan Jacobs, Brandon Saller, and Alex Varkatzas were in a punk band together. After a while, their musical tastes began to change and their songs stopped sounding so punk and became heavier with a bit of singing thrown in. They decided to start fresh and do things differently in a new band. They looked for names for the band in movies and comics, because they thought a lot of good names came from there. A friend, Scott Lloyd, suggested the name Atreyu, from a character in The Neverending Story. Guitarist Travis Miguel was added to the band when he and Alex worked together at Hot Topic. Bassist Marc McKnight was picked up more recently after losing the original bassist, Chris Thompson. For equipment, Saller uses two brands. One is Drum Workshop, the other is Truth Drums. Although he uses both brands, he is seen using Truth drums for the music video "Ex's and Oh's" and various live shows. He also provides vocals for the band.

Brandon is also actively writing music for his solo project. He has released a teaser of songs and also a whole song on his myspace. He has said that although he has EPs worth of music, he plans to release his solo album sometime in 2010 at the earliest.

Brandon is married to a very beautiful model named Ashley.

Dan Jacobs - June 30, 1982
(lead & rhythm guitars, backing vocals)
Dan Jacobs was born in Orange County, California. He has played guitar since the age of 12. His passion for eighties rock and clothing has been a major influence in developing his unique style. He has his own clothing line.

Travis Miguel - March 25, 1979
(lead & rhythm guitars)
He has an ESP guitar signature mode; the LTD TM-600. Travis is also a vegetarian. You can see an interview of him with PETA on PETA's official website.

Marc McKnight - July 12th, 1983
(bass, vocals)
He moved to California in 2001 to study design and play soccer. He went to school in Orange County. He played in the bands A Week Strong and Nightfall. Shortly after leaving Nightfall, he was asked to join Atreyu, who were up in Canada recording the Curse at the time. Aside from playing bass in Atreyu, he is also an artist, photographer, and a designer.
